SNORING....
don't you hear it? It is loud and sounds like a train goes through my bedroom when Spider is sleeping. He snores so bad and even worse when he is tired. Monday night he was home (no work due to Columbus Day---does overnights), and slept in our room. What a night...I fell asleep first...I woke up to those LOUD noises...I could not believe it....that was Spider snoring...I am surprised you did not hear it could have caused earthquakes...so from the hour of 3 am to 4 am I pushed, nudged, hit and pushed him some more begging him to leave the room..telling him he is not fair and to not being a good husband...but to no avail just turned over to snore some more...then at about 3:55 am his phone rang...yup he did not hear it...I was pissed someone calling at that hour. So worked out for me....he got up and got out of bed...that was my opportunity to tell him he is not coming back to MY bed. And guess what it worked...so he went to the couch and I still heard him snoring but at least I had a about 2 hours and 40 minutes of good sleep.
Spider is very stubborn. Now Aviva has had 3 sleep studies, a diagnosis of Sleep Apnea (20 episodes an hour and her O2 rate dropped to the 70's during the episodes) had her adenoids out twice and survived. And that was all before 3 year of age...also had 2 had her tonsils adenoids (they grew back) out, tubes in and uvula trimmed. But my dear Spider will not even go to the ENT for it...A WIMP is what I say. He does not realize how this can truly affect him. But I told him that if he continues to snore he can sleep on the couch or as Aviva says....can we send him to the ZOO to sleep with the MONKEYS.

Homework time.....
Aviva loves doing her homework...she has a calendar with her daily work..today was write the name of the month....which she did without a problem.
Some good news for me...I earned a 35 out of 30 on my research paper...I earned 5 extra points for doing a power point presentation. So I have an 86 out of 90 points for the class so far...have one more 5 point paper and then 10 points for participation...which I have not done so well with..will work on it this week (each week there is a discussion question and I have to do a few of them I have not done).

GRAINS of GRATITUDE......
Thank you to Christine for introducing me to adding my gratitudes to my blog...it helps put the week into perspective.*
*
1. I am thankful for the compassion and understanding Aviva has at such a young age. A boy in her class had an accident in his pants and Aviva saw...quietly she went over to tell the teacher as not to embarass the boy. She went with him to the clinic to get taken care of. And never mentioned a word about it. We went to his party Friday and Aviva drew a picture for him that says J (not his real name) loves Aviva. Boys starting already at 5 1/2.

2. I am thankful my paper on making sense of the world of autism is finished and one more week of class.

3. I am thankful we are healthy with all the sickies going around.

4. I am thankful to my husband as he can fix anything and saves us a ton of money...this goes from cars to appliances.

5. I am most thankful that on Monday my grandfather will be celebrating his 96 birthday..we are not with him but we are thinking of him.
Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh....
that is my sigh of relief that my research paper and powerpoint presentation on Making Sense of the World of Autism is finished and sent to the professor. But she has me a bit angry. Get an email this morning (mind you it is due this evening----online class) that she wants an abstract...OK fine just a paragraph but still. Then in the assignment dropbox says minimum 8 pages and in the syllabus says 6 to 8, I have 6 pages. I could not get anything else to write about. It is concise and to the point all meat and no fluff. In the assignment dropbox said can do a PP for 5 extra points and did not say that in the syllabus, but I did one...so it better count.
A little disappointed with the professor this term. Oh well.
Just glad to say one more week of this class.

OY VEY what a morning...
First my DVR player died last night for no apparent reason. So I go to comcast this morning to exchange the DVR for one that works. And on top of it I LOST all my shows I have recorded that I was looking forward to watching. And get there and they do not have any more players but expecting a delivery today..so they will call if they get them in.
Then a bit ago my neighbors health care aide came to me and asked if I could help. Henry and Mildred are my neighbors and are eldery. Henry is prone to falling, it happened last week and Mildred came to get us...Spider and I went to get him up. But this morning, Henry fell behind the bathroom door and we could not get the door open since he was leaning against it. So we called 911 to help...they came very fast. And they were able to get him and he is all right. I feel bad, because they really need someone to live in. I am just glad that he was not hurt.
That was my morning hoping it remains quiet till I get Aviva so I can work on my research paper Making Sense of Autism.

AVIVA surprises me everyday...(m)
she came home and did her homework. She has a notebook with a calendar of October and what to do each day. So she has to write out three B words today. So she writes her name on the top of the page and I say OK now write October 3. She goes no mommy I will write the magic date....OK have no idea what she means and she goes on to write and says see this is the magic date as she says 10 dash 3 dash 06 10-3-06. WOW you are smart I said where did you learn that. Aviva goes from Mrs. Gonshak.
I do not remember when I learned to write the date like that but it certainly was not kindergarten.
I love these surprises!!!

BREAST Cancer Awareness Month...
I would truly appreciate if you took the time to click to fund Free Mammograms for women who need them. This will mean a lot to me. My good friend beat breast cancer and is doing so well. And I would like to honor her.
Thank you!
Thank you!
HOLIDAY Cooking, Blogger Style....
Overwhelmed with Joy is hosting a recipe exchange for the holidays so I decided to participate. Here is a potato kugel--a side dish we use during many Jewish holidays but mostly during Hanuakah and Passover...but if during Passover I change the bread crumbs for matzoh meal.Ingredients:
6 medium-sized russet potatoes
-- peeled2 carrots
-- peeled1 onion
--1 clove garlic
-- minced2 eggs
-- beaten3 tablespoons vegetable oil
--2 teaspoons salt
--1/4 cup whole-grain bread crumbs
--3/4 cup powdered non-fat milk
***TOPPING:***
--1 cup cheddar cheese
-- grated1 cup plain yogurt
-- or sour creamfresh chives
-- for garnish, optional
Directions:
Grate vegetables; drain off liquid. Stir in remaining ingredients except topping, adding powdered milk gradually to avoid any lumps. Spread into greased 7-in. x 11-in. baking pan. (Can also use 9-in. square pan with additional baking time.) Bake at 350° for 40-60 minutes. When kugel is nearly done it will test dry like a cake and the edges will be brown. Add grated cheese and return to oven for 5 more minutes until cheese melts. Remove from oven; cut into 2-in. squares. Top each square with about 2 tablespoons yogurt or sour cream. Garnish with fresh chives, if desired.

What a nice afternoon we had...
we went to Spider's cousins and Aviva got to play for hours with her cousins. She did not want to leave. she was crying. So I left and over an hour later Spider and Aviva came home after being there for 5 hours. Here are pictures from our fun afternoon.

GRAINS of GRATITUDE
I started this after I found it on Christine's-Brady Bunch Blog. Here are mine for the week:
1.) Aviva is nice and healthy and fully recovered from her horrible cough.
2.) Aviva is doing wonderfully in Kindergarten and got up and read her book in front of her class with out being nervous.
3.) That we all have been spending more time together and Spider has been home a lot more to be with us.
4.) That I am reading more since joining the reading challenge...I am reading both fiction and non-fiction...it is something I love to do and have not been doing much of it lately.
5.) That in another 2 months we will be going away for 5 days to Disney World and will be the 3 of us. It means no interruptions by Spider's business and his music. We love the family time together. It is amazing to see Disney through Aviva's eyes. And it is beautifully decorated for the holidays.

Guess were Daddy and Aviva were going this afternoon?
I am very PROUD of AVIVA....
She has been bringing her Biscuit book to class. So on Wednesday she came home and told me she read the book to her class. I said where did you do that? She said everyone was sitting at the meeting place (the carpet) and she sat in the teacher's chair and read the book to the whole class. I was so impressed and proud of her. That is such a brave thing to do. I spoke to her teacher on Thursday and said she was very impressed with Aviva too. Aviva is doing so well in class she said. She loves to spell words and is always asking how a word is spelled.
