Well, Tropical Storm Ernesto came and left...

it went over Cuba and it was basically torn apart. We had some rain and wind and that was it. No school for two days, I understand why but what a waste of learning time. Hoping it does not get stronger when it gets back to the Atlantic ocean.

Look what I found this morning after I got up..my sleeping beauties:
And here is Aviva wearing a shirt made by my friend Lisa..if you like them she sells them and I can hook you up!

Digital Scrapbooking is addicting..check out my creations..

I love to digi scrapbook but just a beginner, it is so addicting!!! But find it much easier then the old fashioned way!!

My POOR baby...

Had a bit of a rough night. I was tie dying lots of shirts for her class (I am the room parent), and hear her coughing nothing unusual and it continues. It sounds really bad. I go in to find she has vomited all over her pillow and my poor baby was laying in it, she did not wake up till I woke her. Got a towel to clean her and she did it again...walked to the bathroom and almost made it. Cleaned her up and she was smiling and happy, believe it or not. We laughed while I dressed her and we called daddy (it was about 10:20 pm--no school tomorrow due to storm). And then finally heard her snoring and off to never never land she went.

Oh and have to love Andre Agassi--36 years old down 4-0 in the 3rd set and came back to win the set 7-6 and won the match in the 4th set 6-2. What a great match!! Got to love the US OPEN!!!

Here we go AGAIN...

I dropped Aviva off at school this morning and pulled into the Publix shopping center at 7:50 am and it was crowded. Seems everyone (I usually go Monday am) was getting ready for the visit from ERNESTO. There was no water (the gallon variety) left on the shelves. But I had some already, lucky for me.

Right now it is a tropical storm but they believe when it goes over Cuba and gets into that nice warm water it may be a Cat 1 when it gets to the Keys and South Florida. Have a feeling school will be cancelled for Aviva if not tomorrow then Wednesday.

Sent Spider to get gas because there were lines already. He filled my Jeep up last night.

So the waiting begins and the non-stop coverage on the local channels starts.

Love Conquers All..have a tissue ready for tears of joy..

I watched this story on 20/20 Friday night and boy did I cry. What an amazing young couple they are. Nothing can stop them and I believe if we all lived our lives like this, maybe the world would be a better place.

A MeMe from Michelle

1. What was your favorite thing about being a kid?

I guess I would say being able to have fun and have no worries. Being free to play with my friends.

2. What was your favorite subject in school?

It would have to be Social Studies. I had some great teachers and I love current events and learning about other countries. My senior year I was able to spend a week on the Navajo Nation in Arizona, what an experience.

3. Who was your best friend when you were 10?

A girl named Jodi, and was good friends with Andrea.

4. If you could be any animal what would you be?

Not sure, maybe a monkey. They are cute and always seem happy!!!

5. What would you change about your school, occupation, life right now?

This is easy for me...love what I am studying so would not change that. But would love to open a Pre-K/Primary grade school all based on the concept of inclusion...with the best teachers, therapists and professional staff.

6. What's your favorite color?

Like this one

7. What's your favorite type of crust and topping on a pizza?

Just about any type not including ham or anchovies!!!!

Let see if Trish, Lori and CurvyDiva answer!!

Explain to me PLEASE...

Why my child is an angel at school..helpful, kind and happy. She is excited to go and learn. Comes home happy. After a bit of time some devil child took over her body, mind and voice!! Let me tell you Aviva's time out chair was very happy today!!! It got quite a bit of usage. And I am sure everyone else heard her screaming, crying and carrying on.

I asked her when she was calm, do you think Mrs. Gonshak would like to see you behave like this. And she said NO!! She promise to behave the rest of the day and tomorrow because she knows how close to losing Burger King (she gets it on Fridays) she is right now.

Yesterday Aviva came home with a letter saying we have an IEP (for those who do not know it is Individualized Education Plan). From Jan 2005 to June 2005 Aviva was in a special eduction preschool due to her needs from being a preemie. They told me in the last IEP meeting that she will be discharged and that was it. I then found out this morning that was not true. So she is labelled with Developmental Delays (I believe labels are for Campbell Soup cans only). So that means her IEP from Jan 2005 is still on file and good for 3 years. So we will meet on Sept 6th, and discuss that they will keep it open and monitor Aviva. It means she will not be getting any services and they will stay in touch with her teacher to make sure she is fine. I am not worried at all. I just wish I knew why she was not discharged, when she was not in the program.

Started class this week and some family news.....

OY VEY is all I can say. It is Psychological Foundations in Education, and it is going to be a lot of work. Almost every week we will have a 2 to 3 page paper due as well as 5 to 6 powerpoint slides to go with it. She may call on us in chat (this is an online class) to present what we wrote about. Then I have a research paper, but she posted the topics so I decided on making sense of autisitic disorder (her wording). Looks like I will be busy.

Aviva is doing great in kindergarten, she comes home all happy and excited. This week I started dropping her off in the carpool loop and that was not easy. She is my baby and it is such a big school, but she does great according to her teacher. I will also be volunteering in her class every Thursday!

And then I have a BIG surprise for Aviva for her birthday (daddy does not know yet either)..I am taking her to DISNEY WORLD. We are staying at Saratoga Springs Resort and Spa...

http://dvc.disney.go.com/dvc/guest/resorts/resortLanding?id=SaratogaSpringsLandingPage. I am renting points through a Disney Vacation Club member and got a great deal compared to what it is to book through Disney. She is going to be so surprised...now we just have to wait till January 2nd, 2007!

We finished the first week of Kindergarten...

and Aviva loved it. I wish you can see her face when she comes out at the end of the day. Her smile can light up a whole city! Makes me feel so good that she is loving it. She had a great week and earned 5 happy faces so on Monday she can go to the treasure chest!!!!

Today they went on a hunt through the school to find the gingerbread boy...based on a book they read. Aviva told me they saw his foot prints and some other signs and eventually they found him in the office. She loved it!!! And she lvoed she got homework twice this week. Her teacher is so nice and Aviva really likes her.

Since Aviva a had a good week and we were going out for my birthday I told her she could pick the restaurant, she decided on Bahama Breeze. So that was where we went. Aviva got her usual chicken, fries and a diet coke...yup a diet coke taking after her mommy!!

Guess where we are going tomorrow? Yup Coldstone again...I have a coupon (thanks to Michelle) for a free Love it creation for my birthday.

Aviva's FIRST homework..

She was so proud to tell me that she had homework and could not wait to start it. I was not sure who was supposed to do the writing...her or me. But she wanted to do it.....so she did. Aviva was very proud of herself when we finished.

She had another great day except she had some thinking time (think time out but putting it in a positive way). She came to me yesterday and told me she had a time out, and we discussed what you should do and behave in class. She promised she would have a thumbs up day. The teacher told me today about what happened and I explained Aviva told me and she thought that was good. She told me she likes to call it thinking time not time out. So Aviva kissed me goodbye and promised to have a terrific day.

Happy Birthday to ME...

Yup I am the big 38 today. Not sure what is planned if anything. But Aviva woke up at 2:30 am and wished me a very Happy Birthday which is the best birthday present I can ask for. Spider is snoring away still. Hope he has something special planned but not holding my breath.

The FIRST day of KINDERGARTEN was here...

Finally we finished counting down till Aviva started Kindergarten. She has been so excited. She went to be early last night and woke up in a great mood and was ready to go. She was very happy to finally be going. In the car she did not stop talking about Kindergarten and what she would be doing. We get to her classroom early so she had to sit outside and wait and wait some more. She asked why we have to wait outside and I explained those are the rules. We went right in and the teacher greeted her by name and off we went to find her table with her name. She put away her lunch box and school bag and was ready to go. She started to color and seemed happy, and then said mommy this is a huge classroom. I said yes it is and look at all the great stuff you can do. Finally it was time for me to go and she was looking sad but gave me a big kiss goodbye and I left. That was tough but I was so proud of her.

I went to pick her up and what a dismissal due to the thunder and lightening that started right before they were suppose to get out. So we could not pick them up at the gate back to the car to get in line. It took a very long but it was the first day.

Then finally Aviva comes out and looked so happy. She talked non-stop of what she did today. She went to the meeting place (carpet area) and discussed the calander. She told me all about music and recess without taking a breath. And then explained she was the teacher's helper and got to give out green crayons(behavior plan is green, yellow and red crayons..she said she does not want yellow or red crayon they are not good). Glad she knows that. All in all it was an AWESOME day.

Well, what more can I ask for. Let's hope tomorrow goes just as smoothly.

Meet the TEACHER day..

Finally the day came where Aviva can see her new school Central Park Elementary and meet her teacher. She was excited all morning and asking is it time to go. Finally it was time and she was yelling at daddy to come on you are to slow.

We get to the school and it was packed. Not only the school the grass outside the school and people were parking across the street in the shopping plaza. We got lucky and got a close spot. Aviva is so anxious telling daddy to hurry and get her out of the car. We get out and go to the list of students to find out her teacher. She has Mrs. Gonshak, we then proceed to the cafeteria to buy some school shirts and a school folder. We are finally off to her class, we ask someone because we have to no clue the layout of the school. That is where find out Aviva's teacher was teacher of the year. I now do not have to worry about this year.

We get in the class after meeting the teacher and Aviva is off exploring the different areas after we found out she is at Table #1. The classroom is huge and I believe 19 to 20 students in the class. We had a folder with lots of info in it to take home. Mrs. Gonshak explained somethings and will tell more at Open School Night. She talked for a few minutes and then invited all the students to the carpet area and she read a story and gave each child when finished a hand with a chocolate kiss.

Aviva seemed happy and believe it or not shy too. She is quiet at school not like how she is at home. We then went to Target this afternoon to get the rest of the school supplies and now we are ready for Monday.

It is hard to believe that my little 3 pound preemie is starting kindergarten!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Aviva is just to FUNNY....

Yesterday she tells Spider we are going out for lunch tomorrow. And he was like really, where? Aviva tells him Applebee's (her favorite restaurant), She says with Dina, Caitlin and Marilyn. And then she tells him and you can't come. He goes why...because it is a girls day out and you are not a girl you are a boy so you can stay home.

That is my girl. Miss Diva...putting daddy in his place. We did laugh because of how serious she was.

What do you say to your innocent child?

When a child at camp goes up to her and says...I do not want to play with you because you are black. Aviva told me this happened at camp (she did not tell me till yesterday and camp is over). This child was 5 years old. Where would this child learn this but from her parent(s). How sad is it that my child had someone say something like that to her. A child who is so compassionate, innocent and loving of everyone. I felt so horrible that she has to experience this at such a young age. I explained to her that if someone says something like that to you again you need to tell an adult right away. And you do not need a child like that to be your friend, because she is not very nice.

I am just sad.

Tired?

Do you think that after almost 4 hours at the pool today Aviva will be tired? My little girl is now a fish...I think she maybe growing gills. She rarely came out of the water. She loves it. If you saw Aviva in June she would not let go of the wall and wore her vest. Now, she is swimming in the shallow and deep end, doing somersaults under water, jumping in and having a blast. And I forgot, no vest in sight!!!!

Ok, so do you think Aviva will go to bed early tonight? I mean she must be tired. If not, I am taking her energy and bottling up to sell. I am sure I will make a profit. I wish I knew where it came from. I could be rich!!!

Found these pictures of Aviva...

So I scanned them (not the best quality), but check out my cutie pie. She is between 1 1/2 and almost 2 years of age in them.
