teachers get to live in certain areas. Because prices of houses in some areas are ridiculously priced for a teacher's salary.
It is important to get teachers into areas where they are needed and cannot afford the salary. One I area I can think of is Naples, FL where the average price of a house is $500,000. Which definitely is not affordable on what a teacher makes per year.

Interesting...we are actually building a complex geared toward teacher salaries in our city - not to own, but affordable rents at least.
